Caring about pets and their people

Community Vets was born out of necessity following the closure of a long established welfare vet clinic.

Some of the veterinary team from that clinic, felt obliged to open their own independent clinic with a similar ethos, to provide ongoing affordable veterinary care for the local community into the future.

Our vets have many years of experience which enables us to offer high quality surgery, desexing, medical consultations and vaccinations at a reduced price.

They are professional, competent and compassionate, and supported by a dedicated team of nurses.

Our team at Community Vets understand that animals are such a vital part of people’s well being and we will ensure that everyone is able to care for the pets who give them such unconditional love. With this mission and this passion, Community Vets have opened our clinic in Braeside.

Home Euthanasia Service

Paws at peace offers a dedicated home euthanasia service for terminally ill or elderly pets in Melbourne and surrounding suburbs.

Dr Amy Jeffreys, the face behind Paws at Peace, is a qualified veterinarian with a special interest in end of life care of geriatric and terminally ill dogs and cats.

She understands that saying goodbye to a much-loved pet can be an extremely emotional and difficult experience. Her aim is to provide people with the opportunity to say goodbye to their pets in a peaceful and calm environment, surrounded by those who love them most.

Dr Amy is available for appointments during business hours but also provides an after-hours service in the event that a pet deteriorates overnight and waiting for a vet to open or visiting an emergency centre would cause suffering or distress.

Often, as our pets near the end of their lives they can be sick, debilitated and/or in pain and taking them to a veterinary clinic may not be possible.

Our clients are grateful to be able to hold and cuddle their pet in a safe and nurturing environment, as pet and owner share their last precious moments together.

Paws at peace also offers arrangements for burial or private cremation.

Home Visiting Vet

Dr. Gemma Coulter BVSc, MANZCVS (Small Animal Medicine)

I am a friendly and experienced vet who grew up in Bayside, and I have recently moved back following my previous role as the owner of a busy vet hospital, where I oversaw the medical & surgical cases of 6 vets.

Having undertaken several years of advanced post graduate study, my particular area of expertise is canine & feline internal medicine.

I am available for home visits in Bayside and Kingston.

Visiting your best friends at home in their own environment can take a lot of stress out of a veterinary visit, both for the patient and the owner! I am able to provide a comprehensive range of home based services from vaccinations, to treating common conditions such as itchy skin or arthritis, to managing complex medical conditions (neurology, oncology, cardiology), and geriatric and palliative care.

I am also equipped to perform diagnostic procedures such as radiology and pathology, and can provide surgery, both routine (desexings, dentistry, lump removals) and advanced (knee reconstruction/TPLO, fracture repairs) at the Surgery Centre (VDSC) on Governor Rd. Braeside

Please contact me if I can be of any assistance with your pets veterinary care; from puppy or kittenhood and through all their life stages.

  • No charge 2nd opinion on complicated medical & surgical conditions

  • Complete cancer care: For curative aggressive advanced surgery to chemotherapy and complimentary therapies, our clinic aims to cure advanced cancer. No charge 2nd opinion on all cases
